We cover the entire City of Ottawa, all 24 municipal wards, and nearby towns on both sides of the city line where a client's crews already travel. The notes below are not a list of places to plaster with ads. They are a planning tool: read the wards near your base, choose a cluster you can serve well, and use the local SEO and Google Ads pages to see how we'd win it.
A little context first. Today's Ottawa was formed in 2001, when the regional government and 11 local municipalities, among them Nepean, Kanata, Gloucester, Cumberland and Vanier, merged into a single city. Customers still use those old names, so your website and profile should too. The 2021 Census counted 1,017,449 residents, and the housing mix is broad: single-detached homes made up 41.7% of occupied dwellings, row houses 21.4%, and towers of five storeys or more 18.9%. That mix shapes who buys trade work and how.

Neighbourhoods and communities we cover
Single-tier City of Ottawa, divided into 24 municipal wards (2022 ward boundaries; each elects one councillor, plus a city-wide mayor). Created 1 January 2001 by amalgamating the Regional Municipality of Ottawa–Carleton and its 11 lower-tier municipalities: Ottawa, Nepean, Kanata, Gloucester, Cumberland, Goulbourn, Osgoode, Rideau, West Carleton, Vanier and Rockcliffe Park. Neighbourhoods per ward are City of Ottawa Ottawa Neighbourhood Study (ONS) Gen 3 neighbourhoods assigned by spatial overlay (any ward holding at least 15% of a neighbourhood's area); combined ONS names (e.g. 'Brookside - Briarbrook - Morgans Grant') were split into their component names, and non-residential ONS units (Greenbelt, Beechwood Cemetery, Airport, industrial/business parks) were moved to business_districts or dropped.

Ward 1 – Orléans East-Cumberland
This is the eastern edge of suburban Orléans, with family neighbourhoods such as Fallingbrook, Queenswood Heights and Châtelaine, and newer growth toward Cardinal Creek. It's one of the first places we'd test a French track, because the east end has long been a centre of Ottawa's francophone community. Expect detached and row housing, steady renovation and seasonal service demand, and customers who compare reviews carefully.
Ward 2 – Orléans West-Innes
Closer to the Greenbelt, this ward takes in Blackburn Hamlet, Convent Glen, Châteauneuf and the older Orléans Village area. Many homes here are a few decades old, which tends to mean replacement work rather than new installs. The Heart of Orléans BIA marks the commercial spine. A bilingual Google Business Profile description and French service pages usually earn their keep here.
Ward 3 – Barrhaven West
Stonebridge and Half Moon Bay are newer subdivisions, alongside Old Barrhaven West. Newer homes mean fewer emergency repairs and more upgrades: finished basements, smart thermostats, landscaping and fencing. Marketing here leans on clean before-and-after photos and fast response to young families. The Barrhaven BIA covers the main retail strips that service businesses can target for commercial work.
Ward 4 – Kanata North
Kanata Lakes, Brookside, Briarbrook, Morgan's Grant and Beaverbrook sit next to the Kanata North Business Park, a large technology park with its own BIA. Households here often research online at length before calling. Commercial opportunities exist in the business park for cleaning, electrical, HVAC maintenance and property services. English dominates search, so a French track is usually lower priority.
Ward 5 – West Carleton-March
A large rural ward: Dunrobin, Constance Bay, Kinburn, Carp, Corkery and Fitzroy. Search volume is low and distances long, so trades that win here tend to be the ones that are known by name, show up in the map for the village, and quote travel honestly. Many properties rely on private wells and septic systems, which matters to plumbers and water-treatment firms. The Carp Village and Carp Road Corridor BIAs cover the main commercial strips.
Ward 6 – Stittsville
Stittsville, Stittsville North and Stittsville East combine an older village core with fast newer subdivisions. It's a strong ward for trades based in the west end, with renovation, landscaping and home-comfort demand. Customers here often ask neighbours first, so reviews and visible local jobs carry real weight.
Ward 7 – Bay
Bayshore, Britannia, Crystal Bay, Lakeview Park, Whitehaven and the Queensway Terrace area run along the Ottawa River in the west. The ward mixes post-war houses with apartment towers, so you'll find both homeowner jobs and property-manager work. Ads that mention condo and rental experience can stand out here.
Ward 8 – College
One of the largest suburban wards by neighbourhood count: Centrepointe, Bells Corners, Qualicum, Leslie Park, City View, Copeland Park and more. Much of the housing is several decades old, which points to steady replacement and upgrade work. The Bells Corners BIA is the main business district. Good territory for a company based in Nepean.
Ward 9 – Knoxdale-Merivale
Craig Henry, Manordale, Parkwood Hills, Fisher Glen, Merivale Gardens and nearby neighbourhoods sit around the Merivale Road commercial corridor. Mature housing and a busy retail strip mean both residential repair work and small commercial clients. Ward boundaries overlap with College in places, so plan these two together.
Ward 10 – Gloucester-Southgate
Hunt Club Park, Greenboro, South Keys, Blossom Park, Heron Gate and Sawmill Creek form a mixed ward of houses, townhouses and rental apartments near the airport. Rental-heavy pockets mean property managers can be valuable repeat clients. Clear, plain ad wording that names the service and the response time works well here, whatever the language.
Ward 11 – Beacon Hill-Cyrville
Beacon Hill North and South, Carson Grove, Pineview, Rothwell Heights and Cardinal Heights sit in the east, inside the Greenbelt. Mature homes and a good share of bilingual households make this a natural extension of an Orléans French campaign. The Industrial East area nearby offers commercial service prospects.
Ward 12 – Rideau-Vanier
Vanier, Lowertown and Sandy Hill, close to the ByWard Market. Vanier has deep francophone roots and its own BIA, and the ByWard Market District Authority now manages the market area. Housing is older and denser: century homes, small apartment buildings and student rentals near the university. Expect heating, plumbing, electrical updates and landlord work, and test French ads early.
Ward 13 – Rideau-Rockcliffe
Rockcliffe Park, New Edinburgh, Manor Park and the newer Waterridge Village development. Rockcliffe and New Edinburgh include large older homes and heritage streetscapes where homeowners expect careful, well-presented trades. Premium positioning, detailed project photos and polished bilingual pages fit this ward.
Ward 14 – Somerset
Centretown, West Centretown and the LeBreton area are mostly apartments, condos and older converted houses. The customer is often a tenant, a condo board or a landlord, not a homeowner. Several BIAs cover the area, including Centretown, Somerset-Chinatown and the expanded Downtown BIA. Parking and access are real objections here; address them in your ads.
Ward 15 – Kitchissippi
Westboro, Hintonburg, Wellington Village, Mechanicsville, Island Park and Civic Hospital. Older homes in walkable neighbourhoods, plenty of renovation and infill, and the busy Westboro Village and Wellington West BIAs. Homeowners here often pay for quality and expect a modern, credible website. Good ground for renovation, electrical and design-build trades.
Ward 16 – River
Riverside Park, Mooney's Bay, Carlington, Carleton Heights and Courtland Park, running along the Rideau River. A mix of post-war bungalows, townhouses and apartment buildings. Demand is broad and price-aware, so clear pricing ranges and fast response work better than prestige messaging.
Ward 17 – Capital
The Glebe, Old Ottawa South, Old Ottawa East, Dow's Lake and the area around Carleton University. Older, valuable homes and active renovation. The Glebe BIA anchors Bank Street. Homeowners here research carefully and read reviews closely; detailed project pages and genuine local photos pay off.
Ward 18 – Alta Vista
Alta Vista, Elmvale, Canterbury, Playfair Park, Guildwood Estates and Hawthorn Meadows. Mature mid-century housing with a lot of replacement work: windows, furnaces, panels and plumbing updates. It's a central ward that companies on both the east and south sides can reach.
Ward 19 – Orléans South-Navan
Newer Orléans subdivisions such as Chapel Hill South and Portobello South, plus the villages of Navan, Sarsfield and Vars. A blend of new-build suburbs and rural properties, with a strong French-speaking presence typical of the east end. Plan bilingual campaigns here and separate rural messaging for the villages.
Ward 20 – Osgoode
A large rural ward in the south: Greely, Metcalfe, Osgoode, Vernon, Edwards, Carlsbad Springs and part of Manotick. Larger lots, wells, septic systems and outbuildings mean different jobs from city work. Low search volume rewards a strong map presence, village-name pages backed by real jobs, and word of mouth.
Ward 21 – Rideau-Jock
Richmond, North Gower, Kars, Munster, Ashton, Marlborough and part of Manotick, which has its own BIA. Rural and village properties, some heritage homes, and long drives. Trades that live in or near the ward have a natural edge; ads should make travel and scheduling clear.
Ward 22 – Riverside South-Findlay Creek
Riverside South, Findlay Creek and Leitrim are growing southern suburbs. Many homes are recent, so demand leans toward upgrades, finishing, landscaping and maintenance rather than emergencies. Families here move quickly from search to call, so a fast mobile site matters.
Ward 23 – Kanata South
Glen Cairn, Katimavik, Hazeldean, Bridlewood and Emerald Meadows. Older streets in Katimavik and Glen Cairn sit beside newer housing in Bridlewood, so replacement and upgrade work both show up. The Kanata Central BIA covers the retail core. A natural cluster to pair with Kanata North and Stittsville for a west-end business.
Ward 24 – Barrhaven East
Chapman Mills, Davidson Heights, Rideaucrest and Old Barrhaven East. Suburban family housing, much of it built in the last few decades. Pair this ward with Barrhaven West and Riverside South for a southern cluster that one crew can cover efficiently.
Beyond the city line
Some clients' service areas cross into neighbouring towns. To the east, Clarence-Rockland, Russell and The Nation have strong francophone communities, which makes a French track even more useful. To the south and west, North Grenville, North Dundas, Beckwith, Mississippi Mills and Arnprior are common extensions for Ottawa-based crews. Across the river, Gatineau and Pontiac are in Quebec, with different licensing and advertising rules; see cross-river marketing before you go there.
How to use this page
Pick the three to six wards nearest your base, check the notes above, and compare them with where your last season of jobs came from. Our guide on choosing your Ottawa service area turns that into a budget, and the contact page explains what to send us for a quick second opinion.
Frequently asked questions
Do you cover rural Ottawa as well as the city core?
Yes. Rural wards such as Osgoode, Rideau-Jock and West Carleton-March are part of the City of Ottawa and part of our coverage. They need different tactics, because searches there are fewer and drive times longer.
Should I target all 24 wards?
Almost never at the start. Pick a cluster of wards your crews can reach comfortably, win there, then expand. Trying to cover everything at once spreads a budget too thin to win anywhere.
Which wards suit a French campaign?
The eastern wards around Orléans and the Rideau-Vanier area are usually the first places to test one. The right answer for you depends on your own call history, so we check that first.
Do you create a separate page for each ward?
No. Thin ward pages are doorway content that Google discourages. Your website gets area pages only where you have genuine local proof, such as completed jobs and photos.
